This RAD Motel was built in 1944. The main draw is that it is very affordable and has breathtaking views from the living room and kitchen. We stayed in the "Crows Nest". We found all the linens to be spotlessly clean and smelled great! Everything in this place is full of character. I saw whales spouting from the kitchen, watched the sunset over the ocean every night, and fell asleep listening to the waves crash and the wind howl as a storm blew through. WOW! My husband and I have lived in hundred-year-old buildings, so nothing in this place was a surprise to us. That being said if your idea of an old house is one from the 80s you might have a few surprises here. If you treat this place with a gentle touch and immerse yourself in the experience of staying in a time capsule by the sea that welcomes dogs, this might be your little piece of heaven. In my personal opinion the Crows Nest is not well suited to individuals with small kids. The stairs are brutally steep and slippery laminate. They do provide a child gate but personally I dont think I would risk it. There are baseboard heaters which warm the place up nicely. I could see that tall people would have a tough time maneuvering as the ceilings are vaulted and low, especially at the entrance, the far end of the couch and the bed. But don't let that bother you this place is amazing! I will also recommend that you pick up a couple bottles of water for drinking and making coffee/ tea. The water quality in this area is not great. There are a few quirky things with the electrical, but, remember, it's all part of the experience! And the host provides clear instructions. Mismatched dishes, silverware and towels were all clean and perfect. We had everything we needed to cook several tasty meals every day. I really felt motivated to write all of this because this is a unique place that is becoming very rare. A million dollar view that is affordable. Hard working people providing a clean place to enjoy the beach. There are several different units as well, some even sleep 6 people. If you are looking for the Hilton, this is NOT it. Thank goodness places like this still exist!!! Also we saw 10 whale spouts and a rainbow the last morning we were there!!
